Tairowa

The prisoner of war cemetery in Tairowa was restored in 1998. Around 45 prisoners of war are buried here. The site is 1,500 square meters in size and is surrounded by a basalt wall. The central memorial is a 4.5 meter high granite cross. The graves are marked by groups of symbolic crosses. The high cross also bears the commemorative message: HERE REST WAR SURVIVORS, VICTIMS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR
