There are 12 German soldiers' graves from the First World War here. At the Heiwa-Koen cemetery in the east of the city, there is a grave for the 12 German soldiers who died as prisoners of war in Nagoya between 1915 and 1919. The grave is maintained by a German professor at Nanzan University in Nagoxa, who also lays a wreath there every year on Remembrance Day.
