Over 900 fallen soldiers from the Second World War have found their final resting place in Ljubljana. The Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (German War Graves Commission) was able to complete the facility at the Zale Central Cemetery. It is the third German military cemetery of the Second World War in Slovenia. A total of 6,300 members of the Wehrmacht fell in Slovenia. Other German war cemeteries are located in Celje and Kranj. The inauguration took place on June 1, 2002.
