Feldbach

The military cemetery is an independent site located directly next to the Mühldorf municipal cemetery in Feldbach. The approximately 5,000 square meter site is home to 1,646 German soldiers, 168 Italian prisoners, an unknown number of Russian war dead from the First World War and 972 German dead from the Second World War. In the mid-1970s, the cemetery was reburied and then landscaped with the installation of permanent natural grave markers made of serpentine as well as gardening and construction work. The cemeteries of the First and Second World Wars were combined into a single lawn. In the middle of the grounds is a small square with a high cross and a plaque. The military cemetery was inaugurated on September 23, 1978. The cemetery was transferred to the care of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior on January 1, 2005.
