The cemetery was established in 1930 as a memorial for the fallen of the First World War. Numerous German soldiers who died here during the Second World War were buried at Kolmeshöhe. The Kolmeshöhe cemetery of honor, a memorial to the fallen of the 1st and 2nd World Wars, attracted worldwide interest when the American President Ronald Reagan visited Bitburg together with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl on May 5, 1985 to lay a wreath at the cemetery tower. The war cemetery on Kolmeshöhe was inaugurated in 1959. Photos and text (excerpts): Dieter Schilling
